Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA), Division of Business and Finance (DBF), is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to serve as a Statewide Accountant 1. In this vital role, the selected candidate will function as a primary point of contact between the General Accounting Office (GAO) Central Payroll and various State agencies, boards, and commissions. The position delivers critical functional assistance concerning the AZ360 HRM system, interprets and guides entities on statewide accounting policies and procedures, and provides essential support throughout the rigorous statewide fiscal and calendar year-end close processes.
The core responsibilities of this position encompass a variety of essential operational tasks critical to the state's financial integrity. The Statewide Accountant 1 executes precise data entry for payroll adjustments, conducts meticulous reviews of daily supplemental payroll transactions, and performs comprehensive general ledger reconciliations of payroll clearing accounts. Beyond daily operational duties, the incumbent is expected to actively evaluate workflows, recommending strategic process improvements and updates to standard work instructions as well as statewide accounting policies related to their primary functional tasks. All assignments must be executed in strict conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines, and foundational theories and concepts unique to a sophisticated governmental accounting environment.
